The syllabus, course outline, and other information are posted on
GauchoSpace.
The Spring 2022 class is scheduled to be in person. If UC were to
impose Covid restrictions, I will use any discretion given to
instructors to meet in person to the maximum extent permitted.
The midterms will be on April 21 and May 12. Please hold these dates.
Crashing: I follow UCSB waitlist procedures. The waitlist
is your best chance to get into the course. I do not provide add
codes while the waitlist is active, as this would unfairly
disadvantage students on the waitlist. A small number of add codes
may be available after the waitlist closes, but at most a small
number.
The GauchoSpace site allows waitlisted student to participate as
course crashers. Please consult with GauchoSpace IT if you have
trouble entering, as I cannot advise on GauchoSpace IT issues.
Econ 133 focuses on
three topics: (1) Macroeconomics in open economies. (2) Keynesian
macroeconomics. (3) Government Debt. All three are important
macroeconomic topics that get less attention in Econ 101 than they
deserve.
Prerequisites: The course builds on intermediate macro, so Econ 101 is an essential prerequisite -- no exceptions.
Readings: The required textbook is Abel-Bernanke-Croushore:
Macroeconomics, Addison-Wesley, 10th edition.

Materials on the class page are intended only for students
enrolled at UCSB in Econ 133.
