This year's public lecture, The Consequences of Immigration: Economic Winners and Losers, will be held on February 21, 2013 at the University of California, Santa Barbara's Corwin Pavillion at 6:00 pm. Admission is free. Seating is limited.

Broom Conference on Immigration and the Family — Nov 20, 2012
The goal of the Broom Center Conference on Immigration and the Family is to bring together leading and new researchers on family immigration working in a number of disciplinary perspectives, with a view to forging links that will yield new collaborative research. It will be held on February 23, 2013 at the University of California, Santa Barbara's Mosher Alumni Center from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

54th Annual Carl Snyder Memorial Lecture — Feb 17, 2012
The department is excited to have Hal Varian, chief economist at Google, as this year's Carl Snyder Memorial Lecture featured presenter. This year's public lecture, Predicting the Present with Google Trends, will be held on April 03, 2012 at the University of California, Santa Barbara's Corwin Pavilion at 6:00pm. Admission is free. Seating is limited. Hal R. Varian is the Chief Economist at Google. He started in May 2002 as a consultant and has been involved in many aspects of the company, including auction design, econometric analysis, finance, corporate strategy and public policy. In his lecture, Professor Varian will illustrate how one can use Google search data to measure the state of the economy in various sectors, and discuss some of the ramifications for research and policy. Santa Barbara Conference on Experimental and Behavioral Economics 2012 — Feb 09, 2012
The 2012 Santa Barbara Conference on Experimental and Behavioral Economics took place on February 3 and 4, 2012 in the Harbor Room at the University Center. There were approximately eight papers each day presented by leaders in the field of behavioral and experimental economics.

The 13th Occasional California Workshop on Environmental and Resource Economics, organized by Charles Kolstad, will be held at UCSB February 24 - 25, 2012. The primary focus of the workshop is on graduate students, faculty and researchers at universities, public or private institutes, or government involved in research in environmental and natural resource economics. The program provides researchers the opportunity to share their work and/or ideas in a relaxed, workshop environment.

The 12th Occasional California Workshop on Environmental and Resource Economics, organized by Olivier Deschenes and Charles Kolstad, will be held at UCSB's Corwin Pavilion on November 12 - 13, 2010. The primary focus of the workshop is on graduate students, faculty and researchers at universities, public or private institutes, or government involved in research in environmental and natural resource economics. The program provides researchers the opportunity to share their work and/or ideas in a relaxed, workshop environment.

2010 All-California Labor Economics Conference — Aug 24, 2010
The 2010 All-California Labor Economics Conference will be held Monday, September 20th and Tuesday, September 21st on the UCSB campus. Similar to the previous all-UC labor workshops, we plan to have 8-10 papers to be presented from late morning on the 20th until mid-day on the 21st. We will also have a graduate student poster session on Monday afternoon.
