Strategic Business Professional Certificate Program Website Launched — Oct 03, 2012
The Strategic Business Certificate Program (SBP) is a collaboration between the Department of Economics and UCSB Extension. SBP is designed to provide participants with a solid foundation in important business strategy areas; including accounting, business formation and law, finance, and the foundations of business strategy.

Peter Rupert (UCSB) and Etienne Wasmer's (Sciences Po in Paris) research on the housing and the labor markets was cited in the most recent issue of The Economist. The full article: "Housing and the labor market: Time to move and aggregate unemployment" was published in the Journal of Monetary Economics in January 2012.

UCSB Economists to Examine the Effects of Year-Old NOAA West Coast ‘Catch Shares' Program — Apr 11, 2012
UC Santa Barbara resource economists Christopher Costello and Robert Deacon will be examining the ongoing effects of a fisheries management system implemented by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in January 2011. Their effort is funded as part of a $1 million West Coast Sea Grant social science initiative, funded by NOAA Sea Grant and its partners. For more details, see the official UCSB Press Release.

NHH Norwegian School of Economics has appointed ten new honorary doctors in connection with their 75th anniversary celebration. All the honorary doctors gathered on September 7, 2011 for a symposium at NHH. It is only the third time in NHH history that Honorary Doctorates were awarded, and this time it was done in the presence of the King of Norway.
