Academics: The Advantage of Two Levels

The UC Santa Barbara - hosted AEA Summer Training Program addresses the problem of heterogeneity by creating two levels. By involving less advanced students for two summers, the program provides a mechanism for talented students from less quantitative backgrounds - or from backgrounds with little Economics - to prepare for top doctoral programs. AEASTP faculty continues to work with students during the intervening year as well, advising on research topics, course selection, and in choosing graduate programs.
