William Garlock Faculty Fellowship

William Garlock is the President of William F. Garlock
and Co., Inc., a private merchant banking company that
operates in the Bay area. The Garlock Company arranges
real estate financing, raises equity, makes loans with
its own funds, and buys real estate for its own account.
An alumnus of the UCSB Economics Department, Bill is
giving back to his alma mater by providing a fellowship
that serves to attract to this campus one of the brightest
and most capable young economists in the nation to teach
and conduct research. |

| That bright
young economist joined our faculty in 2001. Olivier
Deschenes , a labor economist, received his PhD from
Princeton. His research focuses primarily on labor economics,
and he is working on a variety of applied issues using
state-of-the-art econometric techniques. |
