Norm Habermann is president and CEO of The Restaurant Enterprises Group, Inc., one of the largest privately held companies in California with world-wide operations including restaurant chairs of El Torito, Coco’s, Carrows, Reuben’s, Charley Brown’s, Baxter’s, and numerous unique specialty, one-of-a-kind dinnerhouses. A trustee of The UCSB Foundation since 1986 Norm has proved his dedication to UCSB in numerous ways, not the least of which being sponsoring the Habermann Undergraduate Economics Award.

Gilad Platzker was the recipient of the 2008 Habermann Scholarship. Gilad is a graduating senior majoring in Business Economics with an emphasis in Accounting.  He has earned a 3.91 Major GPA.  Gilad is President of the Accounting Association, and the treasurer of his resident hall.   He will be starting work with the Big 4 accounting firm PWC in the fall.
