Sean S. Weld Memorial Scholarship

Sean S. Weld
This award was established in the memory of Sean S. Weld, an honor student whose interest in economics, travel, and business led him to start his own business while attending UCSB. Sean was killed in an automobile accident in 1996 during his junior year at UCSB. The scholarship was established in Sean's name to provide encouragement to students who, like Sean, would like to explore the world and all its possibilities and who will become leaders in a future in which we will see greater balance between "life" and "business". The award is presented to a student who has shown both academic promise and an entrepreneurial spirit.

The 2008 recipient of the Sean S. Weld Memorial Scholarship is John Zandi. John is a graduating senior majoring in Business Economics with an emphasis in Accounting. He has been the Vice President of the Business Economics Association on campus and now is on the Board of Directors for the club. He is also a member of Phi Alpha Delta, the pre-law fraternity chapter at UCSB. John’s future plans are to start work as an auditor and travel to South America and to the Middle East.
