Accounting Association - The Accounting Association is open to all students.  It was created to bridge the gap between students and the accounting profession.  Today it consists of well over 200 members. Weekly meetings include knowledgeable guest speakers ranging from prominent accounting firm professionals to corporate Chief Executive Officers (CEO’s).  Events such as firm tours and social functions with the accounting firms help ease the transition from college life to the professional world. Through participation in these various activities, students will receive the opportunity to learn more about the careers offered in the field of accounting. Students interested in seeking employment in the accounting field should attend the Accounting Association meetings. Meetings are held each Wednesday from 6-7 p.m.  Look for announcements in class. See the official Accounting Association website.

EmploymentStudents with the Emphasis in Accounting continue to be heavily recruited by the Big Four, national, regional and local accounting firms. On-Campus interviews for full-time employment in the field of accounting are conducted during the fall quarter for graduating seniors. Those students who are offered employment generally begin work the follow September. Information regarding the firms, resume submission deadlines, and interview dates are made available at the Accounting Association meetings.  Interested students should be sure to attend the first meeting in the fall as not to miss any important deadlines. Information can also be obtained from Career and Counseling Services (the pink building near Storke Tower). See  Employment.

Internships - Many local firms or companies offer internships during the academic year, although a majority is offered in the summer.  The “Big 4” firms offer internships to juniors in the summer with interviews being held during the preceding winter quarter.  Those juniors seeking internships with the Big 4 should attend the Accounting Association meetings, at the beginning of winter quarter, for resume submission deadlines and interview dates. The Career and Counseling Services also provides information for those interested in an internship either locally or in other areas. See Internships.
