Biography

Charlie's current research interests lie in the realm of macroeconomics and econometrics, with a particular emphasis on labor supply, demographic change, and applied time series. His work uses economic theory to explore the implications of secular trends and econometric techniques to better inform our theories. Topically, he has written on the implications of rising female labor force attachment for household migration decisions, the growth effects of aging populations in Europe, and the estimation of labor supply responses over the business cycle using a novel extension of local projections. Throughout his graduate career, Charlie has thoroughly enjoyed, and continues to look for, opportunities to learn from and explore new areas with others.

In addition to his academic research, Charlie works as a Senior Research Analyst for the UCSB Economic Forecast Project, which provides detailed economic data to Santa Barbara County stakeholders. He also works as a consulting expert for Keller Rohrback L.L.P., advising team lawyers on econometric and statistical approaches used to estimate damages incurred by certified class members. During his free time, Charlie enjoys staying active by playing volleyball, surfing, and squeezing in a tennis match whenever possible.
