2019 Graduate Sarah Bana Wins Honorable Mention in Upjohn Institute Dissertation Competition

Economics graduate Sarah Bana receives recognition from one of the most prestigious research organizations in the country.

Economics PhD graduate Sarah Bana was awarded for her dissertation, “Three Essays on Vulnerable Workers,” by the Upjohn Institute this Fall Quarter.

She received honorable mention in the Upjohn Dissertation Competition, which recognizes outstanding dissertations from PhD applicants across the country.

Bana, who graduated from UCSB this past Spring, focused her research on Labor Economics. Her dissertation focused on the impact of labor markets on displaced workers.

Upon leaving UCSB, Bana has continued her impressive academic career and now resides as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at MIT.
