Conference on Aging and Healthcare in the Macroeconomy
The Laboratory for Aggregate Economics and Finance will be hosting the Conference on Aging and Healthcare in the Macroeconomy on August 12-13, 2022
Populations are aging and healthcare costs are rising — not only in high-income countries, but also in many middle-income countries like China. The large economic impact of aging and increased healthcare costs requires major policy responses at the macroeconomic level as well as at the micro level. This conference at the Laboratory for Aggregate Economics and Finance (LAEF) at the University of California, Santa Barbara brings together economic researchers analyzing the interaction of the macroeconomics and microeconomics of aging and increased healthcare costs and of alternative policy responses.
The conference will take place at the Upham Hotel Garden room beginning at 9:00 am. We require all individuals to be fully vaccinated prior to attending the conference. The academic organizers are Professor of Economics Tim Kehoe from the University of Minnesota, Assistant Professor of Economics Vegard Nygaard from the University of Houston, and Nick Pretnar Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
