Biography

Jaime was born in Bogota, Colombia, where he grew up in a family of five. He earned a BA and MSc in Economics from the National University of Colombia, a top university in Latin America. He scored Top 4 in the Colombian National Exam for Economics graduates.

Research

His research interests lie in the fields of Econometrics and Labor Economics. His research focuses on methods to evaluate government programs and policies. He is confident that his research will help policymakers to design and implement better public policies. As part of his dissertation, his job market paper interrogates whether and how the effect of a policy program varies across people. Additionally, in a co-authored paper in revision for the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, he investigates the current practice and solutions to the problem of whether a policy program has a significant impact in what is called paired and small-strata experiments.
