Biography

Elisa Jácome's work is centered on topics of public finance and labor economics. Prof Jácome's research focuses on domestic policy issues, especially those related to immigration, healthcare, and the criminal justice system. She has written papers studying whether access to mental healthcare can reduce criminal activity, the effect of immigration policies on an individual’s willingness to report crime, and the relationship between mass incarceration and women’s marriage and labor market outcomes. She is also interested in studying intergenerational mobility, and has co-authored papers studying the economic mobility of immigrants and the extent to which mobility has changed over time in the United States.
