The CARE center organizes a weekly seminar series for outside researchers to present their research, an internal weekly applied workshop mainly for UCSB graduate students and faculty, reading groups on specialized topics (e.g. health economics), occasional conferences, and undergraduate research assistant traineeships.
CARE members often have overlapping interests with other entities on campus, including the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management and the Broom Center for Demography.
